Overview

Liberty Park is a 5.5-acre urban park located in the heart of Mooresville, North Carolina. It’s a popular destination where local residents can enjoy playgrounds, interactive water play, walking trails, sports, and concerts.

To celebrate Mooresville’s 150th anniversary, Liberty Park underwent a significant multi-phase makeover. Carolina Parks & Play, a distributor of outdoor recreational equipment in NC and SC, chose Surface America to provide the surfacing system for the park’s new multi-tier adventure play area.

Key Challenges and Solutions

Due to the park’s highly mounded terrain and a vision for a safe yet highly aesthetic play area,  Surface America’s PlayBound Poured-In-Place System was the ideal surfacing solution. For this 8,200 sq. ft. project, PlayBound delivers a secure, durable, and attractive surface that withstands intense heavy play and every climatic condition.

The PlayBound system can be easily customized to meet the safety, design, and aesthetic requirements of any playground. It uses an industry-leading percentage of material in its top surface, which significantly increases the surface’s expected life. The system performs so well the warranty is an industry-leading 10 years. 

Because of the complex visual details in the play area, which features four color mixes and waving earthtone graphics, our operations team worked closely with Carolina Parks and Play on a daily basis when it came time for installation. Detailed schedules were developed for all graphic approvals, which allowed continuous installation without delays.
