Colorful Poured-in-Place Surface Added to Washington DC School.
Surface America’s crew worked within an unusually tight deadline to install Playbound™ Poured-in-Place surfacing at Ludlow Taylor Elementary School in the Ludlow Park area of Washington DC.
The 8,350 sf. safety surface features exciting colors and design that complement the new play equipment. This project transformed an under-utilized section of the school’s asphalt into a fun and safe play area for students and neighboring families. The crew mixed the 100% post-consumer and post-industrial recycled rubber granules and urethane binder on site to create the different colors and color blends, and troweled the all-black resilient base layer and multi-colored wear layer into place around the play equipment over a crushed stone base. Because aliphatic urethane was used, the surfacing comes with a 10-year warranty.
